Félix Helou, the lawyer leading Fernando Farías Laguna’s defense in Argentina, confirmed that agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) held a meeting with the former Rear Admiral of the Mexican Navy (Semar).

Helou confirmed the meeting in an interview with Azucena Uresti, though he stated he was unaware of the topics discussed by the U.S. agents and the former Rear Admiral, who was arrested in Buenos Aires in April and faces charges in Mexico for alleged tax fraud related to fuel theft (*huachicol fiscal*).

The meeting took place amidst the proceedings for Farías Laguna’s transfer to Mexico—a process regarding which his lawyers claimed they had not been notified, given that his legal proceedings in Argentina have not yet concluded.
