The first images from the wake of influencer and content creator César Gastélum have begun circulating on social media. He was recently executed in a targeted attack while livestreaming outside a KFC restaurant in Culiacán, Sinaloa.
Among the details that particularly caught users’ attention was an impressive floral wreath sent by Alejandro Fierro—an influencer publicly known as “Elsa Buchona”—who was reportedly at the scene when the armed attack took place.
During citizen coverage of the funeral procession, a photograph shared by family and close associates also surfaced, showing the influencer alongside his own coffin; the image quickly went viral, sparking a wave of reactions and condolences across digital platforms.
Although competent authorities are continuing their inquiries and have not issued official statements regarding new developments in the investigation, unofficial reports suggest the homicide was carried out by hitmen from the “Los Chapitos” or “La Chapiza” faction.
According to these sources, the crime stemmed from an alleged betrayal by Gastélum, who had recently been actively flaunting his ties to and support for the rival group known as “La Mayiza” on his social media profiles. Security agencies are keeping lines of investigation open to clarify the facts and determine responsibility.
