An armed attack in the Tepito neighborhood—located in the Morelos district of Mexico City’s Cuauhtémoc borough—resulted in the execution of Lizeth Yuridia Juárez, known as “La Chofis.” Capital authorities had identified her as a long-standing operative and a key figure in the drug-dealing structure of the La Unión Tepito criminal organization.

The incident took place in a parking lot at the intersection of Matamoros and Peralvillo streets, where the woman was intercepted by hitmen who shot her before fleeing the scene.

According to intelligence files from the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office, “La Chofis” had long served as the right-hand woman and most trusted associate of Óscar Andrés Flores (“El Lunares”), one of the principal leaders of that criminal faction.

Within the organization, Juárez performed critical functions for the group’s operations in the capital’s city center, most notably:

Coordinating retail drug distribution networks.

Collecting extortion payments from merchants in the notorious neighborhood.

Managing finances for bribing members of various security agencies to secure protection and operational immunity.

Despite being considered a priority target, Lizeth Yuridia Juárez had a long history of repeat offenses. Records from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) indicate she was arrested at least five times for various crimes. The most recent of these arrests occurred last May; However, due to judicial rulings, he managed to regain his freedom in each of the cases.

This homicide weakens one of the remaining links directly connected to the “El Lunares” faction in an area currently subject to federal and local security operations, driven by internal power struggles for control over illicit activities in the Cuauhtémoc borough.
