A major deployment of security forces in the community of Sayulilla—located in the municipality of Acaponeta, Nayarit—alarmed local residents after social media users reported the presence of official aircraft, patrols, and suspected gunfire.
However, the Nayarit State Attorney General’s Office clarified that the operation was not the result of an armed confrontation, but rather a coordinated action to execute two arrest warrants against an individual identified as Benito “N,” who is accused of involvement in the kidnapping of two military personnel.
In an official statement, the state agency explained that the operation in Sayulilla aimed to locate and arrest the person allegedly responsible for the unlawful detention of the Armed Forces members—a case regarding which no further details have yet been released concerning the victims’ identities or the circumstances of the incident.
Authorities also reported that, during the operation, a boy who had been reported missing was found alive. The minor was placed in the care of the appropriate authorities to ensure his protection and to carry out the necessary legal procedures.
To date, the Nayarit Attorney General’s Office has not disclosed the minor’s identity or the conditions in which he was found, citing legal restrictions regarding the protection of the rights of children and adolescents.
