Band plays its last concert; guitarist kills tuba player with a knife

A musician from a local group known as “Emblema Sierreño” was stabbed to death by his own bandmate, with whom he argued at the end of a private event in Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

The crime occurred Sunday morning in the Hacienda las Bugambilias neighborhood, west of the border city.

The victim was identified as Félix Javier Calero, 37. After the attack, his bandmates took him to a hospital; however, the stab wounds proved fatal.

According to preliminary information, Calero was originally from Juventino Rosas, Guanajuato, and played the tuba in the regional group.

Initial investigations indicate that, after the performance ended, when they began dividing the payment, an argument broke out between the victim and a guitarist from the group. During the altercation, the latter attacked him with a knife.

The alleged assailant fled the scene and his whereabouts are currently unknown.

Police officers went to the hospital to gather information about the incident and begin the corresponding investigation.
