An armed attack in the municipality of Zamora, Michoacán, left five people dead and two injured on the morning of Wednesday, June 3. Authorities stated that the perpetrators were hitmen belonging to the Knights Templar cartel.
The incident took place at a residence in the Primero de Mayo neighborhood, after neighbors alerted security forces to the sound of gunfire.
According to reports from local media, officers from the Municipal Police, the National Guard (GN), and the Mexican Army arrived at the scene to respond to the emergency, where they discovered the bodies of five individuals.
The Michoacán State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) confirmed to this publication that the bodies were those of four men and one woman; additionally, two injured individuals were found at the site.
Security sources informed Infobae México that members of the Knights Templar were behind the crime—information that was subsequently confirmed by authorities.
