The body of one of the robbers who held up a jewelry store Thursday night in Tepic, Nayarit, was found Friday morning in a room at a motel in the San Antonio neighborhood. The discovery mobilized various security agencies in the state capital.

On social media, there has been speculation that the robbers were part of the hitmen formerly commanded by Audias Flores Silva, alias “El Jardinero” (The Gardener). It is said that the CJNG (Jalisco New Generation Cartel) turned against them and that they haven’t been paid.

The deceased was identified by law enforcement authorities as 35-year-old Daniel Machado Salazar. The discovery occurred after a woman, identified as Estefanía, arrived at the Motel Del Sol looking for her husband. Hotel staff informed her that the individual was registered in room number 16. Upon entering the room, the woman found Machado Salazar’s body lying face down in the space between two beds, surrounded by a pool of blood. She immediately contacted emergency services to request police and medical assistance.

In the vicinity of the room, investigators located and secured a long firearm and a tactical vest. Both items were collected by forensic specialists for ballistic and fingerprint analysis to determine if they were directly related to the robbery of the business that had occurred hours earlier.

Public safety officers secured the building and placed the appropriate police tape to preserve the crime scene. Personnel from the Forensic Medical Service were responsible for the removal of the body and the technical processing of the room to collect relevant biological and material evidence.

Meanwhile, criminal intelligence agencies reported that they have solid leads for the full identification of the other two individuals who allegedly participated in the jewelry store robbery. According to police database records, both suspects have prior criminal records, and an ongoing operation is underway to locate them.
