A man who reported his mother’s disappearance has been detained as the alleged perpetrator of the very crime he reported. Fernando “N” was apprehended on May 7, 2026, by agents of the Investigative Police (PDI) in the Cuauhtémoc borough, after inquiries by the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (Fiscalía CDMX) revealed contradictions in the account he had personally presented to authorities regarding the disappearance of his mother, Teresa Guadalupe Molina Hernández—who was last seen on April 25.
The investigation implicates Fernando “N” for his probable involvement in the crime of “disappearance committed by private individuals” (a specific legal classification), specifically in its aggravated form, to the detriment of his mother. Following his arrest, he was transferred to the North Men’s Preventive Detention Center (Reclusorio Preventivo Varonil Norte), where he was placed at the disposal of a control judge who will determine his legal status.
It all began when the defendant himself appeared before authorities to report that, on April 25, 2026, Teresa Guadalupe had left her home in the Venustiano Carranza borough bound for the Historic Center, and that, since that moment, her whereabouts had remained unknown to him. It was this very report that opened the case file and, with it, triggered scrutiny of the person who had filed it.
Personnel from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Investigation and Prosecution of Crimes Related to Disappearance and the Search for Missing Persons (FIPEDE) took charge of the case and initiated the corresponding investigative proceedings. An analysis of surveillance camera footage, telephone records, and fieldwork conducted by the PDI yielded data that contradicted Fernando “N”’s account point by point.
On May 5, authorities executed a search warrant at the property linked to the events. During the operation, biological evidence was discovered which, according to the Fiscalía CDMX, strengthens the hypothesis that Teresa Guadalupe may have been assaulted inside that location.
