A joint operation conducted by the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR) and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) led to the search of a property in the Ejido Progreso Agrario, within the municipality of Matamoros, where containers, extraction equipment, and vehicles used for the storage and transfer of stolen fuel were seized.

Sources consulted by Infobae Mexico confirmed that the confiscated assets are believed to be linked to the Gulf Cartel—specifically the “Los Escorpiones” faction—and that the financial impact on the organization is estimated to be around 8 million pesos.

The operation in the state of Tamaulipas resulted in the detention of two individuals, as well as the seizure of the property itself, thirteen “frac tank” style storage containers, eight motorized extraction pumps, five storage tanks, two tanker trucks, and one dry-van trailer.

The detainees and the confiscated items were placed at the disposal of federal authorities to facilitate the compilation of the corresponding investigative case file.
