A man locked his minor son in the trunk of a car for two years in Hagenbach, Germany, near the French border.

It was neighbors who heard noises coming from the vehicle and decided to alert the police in the community, which is situated on the border shared by France, Switzerland, and Germany.

The boy was found in the fetal position, completely naked, and appeared malnourished and in very poor health due to having remained in that position.

He was living in severely cramped conditions, surrounded by trash, bags containing his own feces, and bottles filled with urine.

Authorities contacted the father, who confessed that he had locked the boy inside back in 2024, when the child was just seven years old.

He explained that he fed the boy twice a day and provided him with the bottles and bags to relieve himself within that same confined space.

The 43-year-old man claimed he had hidden his son in the trunk to prevent the boy’s stepmother from having him committed to a psychiatric facility.

However, when questioned, the woman denied any knowledge that the minor was being held inside the car.

The boy currently has difficulty moving and stated that his stepmother had wanted him to leave the house.

Subsequently, the child was taken for a medical examination and placed in the custody of child protective services.
