Those who believe that Mexico resembles the sepia-toned scenes depicted in countless Hollywood films are in for a surprise when they visit the country.
Gavriel Faith, an American TikToker who recently moved to Mexico City, went viral on social media after sharing the surprises she encountered upon moving to the country.
The young woman, who has been residing in the Roma neighborhood with her boyfriend since late 2025, posted a video that quickly captured attention on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
“Before moving here, I thought all of Mexico looked like the small Mexican towns I had visited with some of my friends. I thought that was all of Mexico. No, no, no, no,” she said.
One of the points that drew the most attention was her surprise regarding the capital’s infrastructure. Gavriel highlighted the urban development and architectural diversity.
She even compared some of the buildings to those found in U.S. cities: “It looks like one of the skyscrapers in—I don’t know—Seattle.”
