A child pornography ring was dismantled in a joint operation between the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) and the International Police (Interpol) in Yucatán. The operation resulted in the arrest of Josué Raúl ‘N’—the alleged ringleader responsible for the production and distribution of the content—on Friday, April 10, in the Mulchechén subdivision within the municipality of Kanasín, located approximately nine kilometers southwest of downtown Mérida.

Here is what we know about the case—originally reported by Australia to Mexico back in November of last year—which the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) highlighted as one of its significant enforcement actions during the second week of April.

In November 2025, the FGR received a report from the Direct Liaison Office for Mexico and Central America (located in Mexico City), forwarded by the Australian Embassy, alleging the production of illicit material—specifically, child pornography—that was believed to have been produced in Yucatán.

The investigation was initiated by the Queensland Police—a force specializing in child abuse and sexual offenses—which identified that the material in question had been shared in July 2023.
