Searcher Cecilia García Murdered in Salamanca: She Found Her Brother’s Remains a Year Earlier

The murder of Cecilia García Ramblas, a member of the Salamanca Unidos Buscando Desaparecidos (Salamanca United Searching for the Disappeared) collective, has shocked the state of Guanajuato.

The 28-year-old was found dead after being abducted by armed men who broke into her home in the community of Valtierrilla.

On the night of March 14, 2026, Cecilia García Ramblas was forcibly taken by unknown individuals, raising concerns among families of the disappeared and search collectives.

On March 19, authorities received notification of the discovery of two bodies on a dirt road near the community of Puerto de Valle, less than six kilometers from Valtierrilla. However, it wasn’t until March 31 that the Attorney General’s Office officially confirmed Cecilia García’s identity and deactivated her missing person report.
