Security sources consulted by Infobae Mexico confirmed the arrest of José “N”—identified as a high-ranking operator within the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG)—who goes by the alias “Pepe.”

Members of the Army’s Special Forces were responsible for carrying out the detention of the individual, who has been identified as a logistics operator for the CJNG’s leader, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes—known as “El Mencho.”

The recently captured individual is believed to be the person responsible for making contact with the woman who played a pivotal role in the operation launched on February 22 against Oseguera Cervantes in Tapalpa, Jalisco.

It is worth recalling that a timeline of events compiled by the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) specified the existence of a man with close ties to one of the criminal leader’s partners; this man reportedly transported her to the municipality where agents were subsequently deployed in an attempt to capture “El Mencho.”
