Samuel Ramírez Jr., 33, was captured without incident last Tuesday, March 10, in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico—just 63 minutes after being added as the 538th individual to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.
This operation, coordinated by local, federal, and international authorities, marks the fastest apprehension of a person on this list since 1969, when Billie Austin Bryant was arrested two hours after appearing among the most wanted.
Samuel Ramírez Jr.’s capture was made possible after the FBI offered an unprecedented reward of up to $1 million for information leading to his arrest.
This sum was established following an increase announced on March 10—the very day of his apprehension—and cemented Ramírez as the first fugitive to be subject to the new standard reward amount, which had previously been set at $250,000.
