Mexico has positioned itself as the country with the most cities on the 2025 ranking of the 50 most violent cities in the world, with 17 included on the list, according to the report by the Citizens’ Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice (CCSPJP).
The ranking places Port-au-Prince, Haiti, as the city with the highest homicide rate globally.
The annual report, prepared jointly by the CCSPJP, the Mexican Human Rights Commission (CMDH), and Mission Rescue Mexico, indicates that 44 of the 50 most violent cities are located in the Americas, while the rest are in Africa.
The report emphasizes that, while Mexico maintains the largest number of cities on the global list, this year only two Mexican cities remain in the top 10, a situation not seen since 2013.
