The Morena parliamentary group in Guanajuato announced the murder of Antonio Saldaña Reyes, a businessman in the footwear sector and an active member of the party. The murder occurred in the municipality of San Francisco del Rincón and has generated consternation among members of the movement, family members, and members of the region’s business and social community.
According to initial reports, Antonio Saldaña Reyes, 45, was killed in a drive-by shooting on the night of Thursday, January 29, 2026, while driving his vehicle on Aquiles Serdán Boulevard, near the El Llano neighborhood. Witnesses stated that two men on a motorcycle pulled alongside his vehicle and shot him at close range before fleeing.
Following the attack, the victim was not immediately identified, as no one in the area recognized him at the time. He remained unidentified until Friday, when his identity was officially confirmed. Local authorities have launched an investigation to clarify the facts and identify those responsible.
