Emma Coronel, wife of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, has requested that the US justice system terminate her probation early, which was scheduled to end in 2027.
According to information revealed by journalist Ángel Hernández in Milenio, the former beauty queen of the Coffee and Guava Fair Festival argues that she has fulfilled all of her legal obligations, in addition to demonstrating her family and professional stability far removed from the criminal environment for which she was tried and sentenced.
The petition, filed with the federal court in Washington, D.C., emphasizes that the mother of the twins of the former Sinaloa Cartel leader has maintained exemplary behavior and has focused almost exclusively on her work as a model and influencer since her release in September 2023.
The court file reviewed by the aforementioned media outlet reveals that Emma Coronel’s defense maintains that the former model has paid all imposed fines, including a penalty of $1,499,970 and a special payment of $300: “She has obeyed all laws and maintained satisfactory behavior,” it reads, adding that she has dedicated herself “exclusively to excelling in her profession as a model and influencer.”
