A federal judge issued the preventive detention order against Pedro “N,” identified by intelligence agencies as “El Sagitario” or “El Señor de la Silla.”
This man is considered one of the most trusted operators within the criminal organization led by Fausto Isidro Meza Flores, known as “El Chapo Isidro.” The judicial ruling also applies to Miguel Ángel “N,” Gaudencio “N,” and Juan Ramón “N,” who were captured along with the main target during the strategic operation carried out in Culiacán, Sinaloa, on the afternoon of December 31.
The Attorney General’s Office confirmed that the four detainees face charges for their alleged involvement in the possession of firearms, ammunition, and magazines, all for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces. They are also charged with drug trafficking in the form of possession with intent to distribute. Given the danger they pose and the significance of the case, authorities ordered their immediate detention at the Federal Social Rehabilitation Center No. 1, better known as “El Altiplano,” in the State of Mexico, where they will remain while the criminal proceedings against them continue.
Pedro “N’s” profile extends beyond Mexican borders, as the United States Department of Justice identifies him, along with his son Pedro Inzunza Coronel, as leaders of a faction of the Beltrán Leyva organization with operational ties to the Sinaloa Cartel. In the United States, both face serious charges including narcoterrorism, money laundering, and trafficking of synthetic drugs, with a particular focus on fentanyl. This international pressure made “El Sagitario” a priority target for the national security strategy. Criminal Structures
The capture of this alleged leader comes amid a weakening of his criminal organization. Just last November, an operation in the mountainous region of Sinaloa resulted in an armed confrontation in which his son, Pedro Inzunza Coronel, nicknamed “Pichón,” was killed. Following that incident, the federal forces intensified their surveillance, culminating in the father’s arrest on New Year’s Eve, thus concluding a cycle of investigations aimed at dismantling this branch of the Beltrán Leyva cartel.
