Alan Gabriel Núñez Herrera, a suspected logistics operator for the Chapitos cartel and one of the most wanted men by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), was found in Culiacán, Sinaloa.
The DEA had offered a reward of up to one million dollars for information leading to the arrest of the 32-year-old.
His body, with his hands bound and gunshot wounds, was found on the night of Monday, December 22, on the sidewalk of Alfonso Zaragoza Maytorena Boulevard, in the Bonanza neighborhood, Tres Ríos sector, near the state government building.
According to local media, family members identified Núñez Herrera at the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO), confirming his identity as one of the main operators of the faction led by Iván Archivaldo and Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar.
The area was cordoned off to conduct forensic investigations and secure the scene, while the Sinaloa Attorney General’s Office opened an investigation under the protocol for intentional homicide related to organized crime.
