A violent armed attack occurred in the early hours of December 12th in the Morelos neighborhood of Irapuato, Guanajuato, leaving four men dead and three others wounded.
Among the deceased was a young man known as “El Flako,” a well-known and popular figure in Irapuato’s youth community.
The armed attack took place around 1:00 a.m. at the intersection of Benito Juárez and Vicente Guerrero streets, an area located just one kilometer from the security complex of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office B in Irapuato.
According to witnesses, the group of young men was outside a house when they were surprised by gunmen traveling on several motorcycles, who arrived at the scene and opened fire repeatedly.
The attack was swift and brutal. Although some of the young men tried to flee the gunfire, they were struck by bullets.
Four of them lay dead at the scene. The other three wounded were immediately taken in private vehicles to city hospitals for medical attention.
Personnel from security agencies at all three levels of government cordoned off and guarded the area. Subsequently, forensic personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) processed the crime scene.
Once the work was completed, the victims’ bodies were transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for the corresponding autopsies. At this time, it is unknown whether the massacre stemmed from a gang dispute or if the motive was of another nature.
