The controversy surrounding Fátima Bosch’s victory as Miss Universe 2025 continues, now with a direct response from Raúl Rocha Cantú, president of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) and a Mexican businessman involved in the energy industry.

Following the coronation, reports and allegations surfaced pointing to potential conflicts of interest regarding the awarding of a multi-million dollar Pemex contract to Soluciones Gasíferas del Sur, a company owned by Rocha himself, while the winner’s father, Bernardo Bosch Hernández, held an executive position at Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).

However, this Sunday, the businessman addressed the accusations and defended the legality of his operations and the legitimacy of the pageant. The contract, for an amount exceeding 745 million pesos ($745,645,019.33), was awarded for the construction of onshore pipelines in PEP’s Southern Zone Production Assets and involved a consortium led by Servicios PJP4 México.

Rocha emphasized that both the awarding and execution of the project followed procedures of institutional transparency and regulatory compliance. He stressed that his company submitted all the required documentation and underwent inspections in accordance with the law, and that the payment received to date corresponds only to the work validated by Pemex, with the total contract amount not yet paid.

In his statement, he underscored that at no time was there any extraordinary support or illegal benefit linked to his business involvement with respect to the beauty pageant.
