Efrén Neftalí Adame García, son of three-time mayor of Ometepec, Efrén Adame Montalván, was murdered with at least seven gunshots in the heart of Marquelia, in the Costa Chica region of Guerrero.
The attack occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 14, a few meters from the town’s main square. According to official reports, armed men arrived at a store where the victim was with one of his daughters and shot him multiple times.
“Tali,” as the businessman was also known, died at the scene from head wounds. His body lay between the sidewalk and the entrance of the store, “Súper Lechos Marquelia.”
Police officers cordoned off the area after the attack, while personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office carried out the corresponding procedures. The motive for the crime has not yet been reported, nor have any arrests been made.
Adame Montalván, his father, governed the municipality of Ometepec for three terms (2008-2012, 2018-2021, and 2021-2024). In August of this year, he was formally charged with alleged electoral crimes, a fact that keeps his case ongoing before the judicial authorities.
