García Harfuch ‘Preempts’ Trump’s Attack on Drug-Carrying Boats

Was another attack by Donald Trump on drug-carrying boats averted? The Mexican government announced the seizure of 2.5 tons of cocaine off the coast of Michoacán.

Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security, reported that with this operation, the Mexican Navy has seized 51 tons of cocaine so far during Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration.

The Trump administration’s attacks on boats carrying suspected drug traffickers in the Pacific have generated friction with Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum, who reminded the United States that there are international laws that prohibit the execution of individuals without trial.

“We do not agree. There are international laws governing how to operate in the face of suspected illegal drug or weapons trafficking in international waters, and we have made this clear,” she declared during the morning press conference on October 23.
