A resident of eastern Mérida, in the Miraflores neighborhood, reported on social media the break-in of a foreign individual into her home, a situation that raised concerns among neighbors and internet users. The man, who appeared shirtless, displayed aggressive and defiant behavior during his time on the property.
The victim, Bibiana C. Vargas, reported on her Facebook profile that the intruder was allegedly under the influence of some substance. In the shared video, the man is seen speaking in English, carrying a vaping device, and adopting a belligerent attitude, while the neighbor tries to persuade him to leave.
In addition to posting the recording on her wall, Bibiana shared the incident in the community group “Colonia Miraflores y sus alrededores,” detailing that the man refused to leave. Given the situation, she requested police intervention. However, the presence of a Traffic Police officer did not allow for the forced eviction of the private property, as the neighbor explained in her digital report.
In the video, the neighbor also speculates about the individual’s possible medical condition, suggesting that he could suffer from schizophrenia, which would justify his refusal to leave the home. Bibiana emphasized that the man did not appear to be homeless, as he was carrying an iPhone 14, which generated comments from users about his possible substance use or mental disorders.
The post generated significant repercussions in the digital community, with internet users commenting on the safety of the neighbors and the need for local authorities to intervene promptly. Some highlighted Bibiana’s proactive attitude in documenting the situation and alerting other residents about the incident.
