Julio César Chávez, the Mexican boxing icon, raised alarm bells this Sunday when he was hospitalized in an emergency in Culiacán, Sinaloa, after suffering severe pain that led to urgent surgery.

The situation was made public through his son Omar’s social media accounts, which immediately generated concern among his followers, who wished the 63-year-old former boxer a speedy recovery.

“We’re at Los Ángeles Hospital, with the doctor… they’re going to operate on my dad, and we’re here,” said Omar Chávez, showing his father lying in a hospital bed wearing a gown.

The video, which quickly went viral, also featured the doctor in charge of the “Great Mexican Champion’s” operation, who briefly explained what was happening.

“I’ve been monitoring the champion’s health here in Culiacán for a long time, and this time he was experiencing some minor pain caused by a stone in his urinary tract, in his left ureter, and they’re going to remove it soon,” he shared. In the final part of the video, Julio César Chávez thanked the fans for their attention and messages, emphasizing that he is doing well and calm after everything that happened.
