Members of the Mexico City Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) deployed roadworks in the vicinity of Puente de la Concordia and Ignacio Zaragoza Causeway, west of the capital, to allow emergency units access after a fuel tanker and several vehicles caught fire.
The incident, which occurred Wednesday afternoon in the Iztapalapa borough, mobilized emergency response teams, including four ambulances from the Rescue and Emergency Medical Squad (ERUM) and a Special Rescue Unit, which went to the affected area to provide assistance and perform risk control maneuvers.
SSC officers established road closures and priority access routes to facilitate the movement of Mexico City firefighters, medical personnel, and specialized equipment, with the goal of ensuring a rapid response to the emergency and protecting the safety of the citizens in the area.
Personnel from the Valle de Chalco Regional Center also arrived at the scene to provide support in responding to a tanker fire near the Puente de la Concordia in Mexico City.
The Mexico City fire department responded to the scene to carry out the necessary work to extinguish the blaze.
Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada reported that emergency teams are heading to the scene to address the fire.
Through her X account, the capital’s governor said that SSC and Civil Protection teams responded to the scene.
