Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller, a researcher, academic, and wife of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, is among the nine candidates selected by the community of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) to compete for the position of rector of the institution for the 2025-2029 term.
The BUAP Auditing Committee confirmed that nine candidates were proposed on August 25 and 26. More than 5,000 members of academic and administrative units participated in the auscultation, supporting candidates based on their academic and research work.
After the auscultation period concluded, university students nominated eight academics and the current rector, Lilia Cedillo Ramírez, as candidates to lead Puebla’s highest educational institution.
