On the morning of Friday, August 22, a video went viral of a man who entered the San Andrés Tuxtla Church in Veracruz, where he set fire to some religious images and the main altar.
Regardless of the presence of parishioners, Miguel “N” attacked the religious objects, causing concern and fear among those present, as he also attacked staff members.
Security and emergency services arrived at the scene in response to a 911 call. The man who attacked the religious images also carried a machete, which he used to intimidate the parishioners.
After the suspect’s arrest, it was clarified that the man was under the influence of drugs, as he was shouting the slogan “the devil ordered me to set it on fire,” the defendant stated.
