The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) reported that Sandra Lucía Téllez Nieves, one of the partners and owners of the ABC Daycare Center in Hermosillo, was detained in the United States based on a provisional arrest warrant for extradition purposes, as she fled the country to avoid serving her sentence.
It indicated that the woman had been a fugitive since 2022, having been sentenced in Mexico by a federal judge for the fire at the aforementioned daycare center, she failed to comply with her parole sentence and escaped to the United States.
“In this regard, since September 2024, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) has been working through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provisionally detain said individual for extradition purposes. This resulted in his arrest in Tucson, Arizona, by United States authorities, who set October 8 of this year as the date for the corresponding hearing.”
