Irma Hernández’s last words before being found dead in Veracruz: “Comrades, pay your ‘cuota’.”
Kneeling, with short hair and wrapped in a white shawl, was how Irma Hernández Cruz was last seen in a video posted on digital platforms, surrounded by approximately 10 hooded men, all carrying long weapons, in a wooded area.
This Thursday, July 24, the Veracruz State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) confirmed the discovery of the 62-year-old woman, who decided to become a taxi driver after retiring as a teacher. She operated in the municipality of Álamo Temapache, in the northern region of the state, and owned two transport vehicles in the Ejido Estero del Ídolo area.
Teacher Irma Hernández was reported missing on July 18, when a group of armed individuals deprived her of her liberty in broad daylight and without intervention on Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Street, just across from the Álamo Municipal Market.
