The figure of Adriana Meza Torres, known as the wife of Ovidio Guzmán López, alias “El Ratón,” has acquired unexpected relevance in the recent judicial decisions of “El Chapo” Guzmán’s son.

According to journalist Anabel Hernández, Meza Torres was allegedly a determining influence in the path taken by the member of “Los Chapitos,” who went from being one of the most wanted criminals to becoming a key cooperating witness for the United States government.

Who is Adriana Meza Torres?

Adriana Meza Torres, originally from a family with deep roots in the Sinaloa Cartel, is the daughter of Raúl Meza Ontiveros, alias “El M6,” one of the criminal group’s most prominent lieutenants, who was killed in a 2007 confrontation in Culiacán. Furthermore, during the “war on drugs,” the family lost another member, Raúl Torres Meza, known as “El Mini-6,” who was killed in Zapopan, Jalisco.

According to various investigations, the marriage between Ovidio and Adriana in 2010 also responded to strategic interests: their union strengthened the position of both families within the criminal group. Adriana’s own family reportedly pressured to formalize this relationship, believing that marriage represented a substantial improvement in their standing within the organization.

According to the book “Los Chapitos: Radiografía criminal de los hemos sido heirs del cártel de Sinaloa” (The Chapitos: A Criminal X-ray of the Heirs of the Sinaloa Cartel), by José Luis Montenegro, the couple has three daughters: Adriana, Griseli, and María Joaquina.
