Los Alegres del Barranco were involved in a major controversy and were even fined for projecting images of Nemesio Oseguera, alias El Mencho, during one of their concerts.
The musicians even lost their visas, but now they’ve released a song with an anti-drug trafficking message. The song premiered shortly after 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 15th, right on Father’s Day.
The release of this corrido comes after the group was investigated by the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office for consecrating crime. Unlike most corridos, this song does not glorify or describe the lives of drug traffickers, but rather seeks to send a message to young people to reject being recruited and not to idealize the life of organized crime.
In the lyrics of their new single, Los Alegres del Barranco mention that while the ranks of organized crime might seem attractive to many people because of the luxuries, the reality is that prison or death is a sure destination.
