President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reiterated this Saturday her rejection of the fiscal package promoted by President Donald Trump, which includes a 3.5 percent tax on remittances sent abroad. She considered it unfair to charge an extra fee to Mexicans who already pay taxes in the United States and warned that if necessary, there will be protests.
The federal leader emphasized that nearly 40 million Mexicans live in the United States and support their families in Mexico, but also in the United States, with their work.
At the same time, she emphasized that many of her compatriots in the United States already have dual citizenship but continue to support their families in Mexico. Therefore, she reiterated her call to her compatriots in the United States to send letters to their state senators requesting that the 3.5 percent tax on remittances be halted.
“Many of them already have dual citizenship and continue to help their families because we Mexicans are supportive,” he asserted.
