Written by Parriva — May 24, 2025

Misael Galván Moral, a 23-year-old fruit vendor, is demanding justice after being beaten by a family in Tehuacán, Puebla, on May 21.

This Friday, he went to the local Congress to ask for legal support and prevent his case from going unpunished.

Misael’s Beating in Tehuacán Sparks Outrage

Misael said he has been working at the site where he was attacked for eight years, as his father is on dialysis and unable to work. His mother inherited the space he sold.

Four years ago, Rosa N., the mother and wife of the attackers, tried to take his space away from him by filing a complaint with the Municipal Transit Authority, but the complaint was dismissed because he was not obstructing traffic and had his proper documents to sell.

On May 21, two men arrived at the scene and violently attacked him, rendering him unconscious.

Misael Galván demanded justice and that those responsible for the attack be held accountable, as he only works honestly without harming anyone.

Currently, Misael wears a neck brace and has a head injury and a sprained ankle. Next week, he will undergo X-rays to rule out further damage.

The young vendor called for an end to violence and asked those who want to help him to do so peacefully, as his attackers could now become victims.

Complaint for injuries, not attempted murder

His lawyer, Ángela Huesca, lamented that the Public Ministry is only investigating injuries, not attempted murder. Therefore, she asked the Puebla Attorney General, Idamis Pastor Betancourt, to intervene in the case.

The investigation, number Tehuacán-I/007200/2025, is still active, but Julio F. and his son, Gerson N., have not been located or brought before the authorities.

Public Reaction and Official Follow-up

On the night of the attack, more than 200 people gathered in front of the attackers’ home to vandalize and set fire to the house and a vehicle.

The Secretary of the Interior of Puebla, Samuel Aguilar Pala, stated that they are tracking down two instigators who called for the violent acts via WhatsApp and Facebook.

The Puebla Congress offered Misael legal support. The state Attorney General’s Office and the Cyber Police continue the investigation to arrest the attackers and prevent further acts of violence.
