Officers from the Jalisco Regional Police discovered and destroyed two marijuana plantations, as well as a drying facility, in the San Martín de las Cañas district of the municipality of Tequila.

The discovery was made during preventive and surveillance operations along rural trails and in the mountainous areas of the municipality. Together, the two sites covered an area of 22,880 square meters.

Discovery made during patrols in mountainous areas

State police officers were conducting preventive and surveillance patrols along rural trails and in the mountainous areas of the district when they located the two plots used for cultivation. Combined, the two sites spanned 22,880 square meters.

In addition to the crops, the officers identified a drying facility containing plants that had already been harvested. The discovery thus encompassed three locations within the same area: the two plantations and the drying site.

Nearly 98,000 plants seized

At the two sites, the officers counted approximately 95,000 standing plants. Added to this figure were another 3,000 plants—each one meter tall—found at the drying facility.
