On October 19, 12-year-old Ariana Scarlett Velázquez Cruz left her home in the rural community of Ribera Tanchichal, in the municipality of Ostuacán, Chiapas, accompanied by her grandmother, Mirian Cruz Alpuche, to check on a cow at a nearby ranch. They never returned. Hours later, Mirian’s body was found wrapped in black plastic bags and a tarp along the bank of a stream. There is no trace of Ariana.
The Chiapas Amber Alert (Alerta Amber Chiapas) issued report AACS0015/2026 to locate the minor. The file confirms her exact age, her date of birth—August 20, 2014—and identifying features: a scar on her left eyebrow and similar marks on both of her knees.
The missing person notice describes Ariana as 1.45 meters (4’9″) tall and weighing 45 kilograms (99 lbs), with long, straight black hair, large black eyes, brown skin, and an upturned nose.
