Officers from the Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) apprehended Joel “N,” alias “Donovan,” in the Miguel Hidalgo borough. He is identified as the leader of a criminal cell that targets bank customers and is allegedly linked to at least 28 active investigations across the Tlalpan, Benito Juárez, Azcapotzalco, and Álvaro Obregón boroughs.

This was announced by the head of the agency, Pablo Vázquez Camacho, via his social media channels, where he highlighted the results of the institution’s intelligence and investigative efforts.

“We continue to combat crimes that threaten the assets of our citizens,” the official stated while providing details about the operation. According to official data from the department, “Donovan” has a significant criminal record, including four prior incarcerations for aggravated robbery.

During the same operation, authorities also captured a 43-year-old man—a member of the same criminal group—who has a prior record of incarceration for drug-related offenses.

A firearm, various doses of narcotics, and mobile phones were seized from the suspects. These items have been turned over to the appropriate prosecutorial authorities to be included in the case file and to determine the suspects’ legal status.
