CJNG tunnel engineer arrest

Mexican military forces arrest an alleged CJNG tunnel engineer in Zapopan, Jalisco, accused of building cross-border tunnels used to smuggle drugs into the United States.

Mexican military personnel arrested Luis Manuel “N,” known as “El Ingeniero,” in Zapopan, Jalisco. Authorities allege that he designed and built cross-border tunnels used by the CJNG to move drugs into the United States, particularly from Tijuana, Baja California.

According to the account published by La Jornada, the military said the suspect faced charges in San Diego related to conspiracy to traffic drugs. Authorities described him as a key CJNG member operating under Juan Carlos Valencia González, known as “El 03.” The operation reportedly involved the National Guard and the Federal Attorney General’s Office investigative agency. Authorities said they seized weapons, drugs and a vehicle.

These are allegations attributed to Mexican authorities; the available reporting does not independently establish the suspect’s responsibility for particular tunnels. The distinction between an arrest, an allegation and a court finding must be maintained.
