A US citizen identified as Steve “N,” aged approximately 45, was shot and killed on the afternoon of Monday, September 14, in the Francisco Villa neighborhood of Mazatlán. This attack marks the fourth homicide of the day in the Sinaloan port city.
According to local media reports, the man was outside a seafood restaurant on Bicentenario Avenue—near the corner of Toma de Zacatecas Street—when armed individuals intercepted him and shot him multiple times.
With this crime, Mazatlán has seen three murders occur within a span of just a few hours on the same day, with the incidents taking place almost simultaneously, according to *Noroeste*.
Area residents reported hearing gunfire around 5:30 PM. According to eyewitness accounts gathered at the scene by *Meganoticias*, armed men fired at the victim while he was on the street, near the intersection with Coronel Ángel Fierro Street.
Other accounts suggested that the man was apparently sweeping a taco shop at the time of the shooting.
Investigators noted that the man had been living in the area for some time. Paramedics from the *Bomberos Veteranos Mazatlán* (Veteran Firefighters) confirmed at the scene that the victim showed no signs of life upon their arrival.
Personnel from the Mexican Army, the Mexican Navy, and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection secured the perimeter. Preventive police officers cordoned off the scene with yellow tape, and traffic on Bicentenario Avenue was shut down.
Staff from the State Attorney General’s Office’s Directorate General of Forensic Investigation collected spent shell casings as evidence. Following the forensic processing, the body was transported to the Forensic Medical Service, where it will remain in the custody of the Public Prosecutor’s Office until family members arrive to formally identify him.
