A video circulating on social media shows three individuals—allegedly members of the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA)—detaining and interrogating a “halcón” (lookout or spotter) for the La Chapiza faction in the municipality of Mazatlán, Sinaloa.

In the video, filmed on a public road in the port city, two uniformed officers are seen surrounding the suspect—who is on the ground—at the side of the road to question him about his operational activities in the area.

Simultaneously, a third military member strikes the motorcycle the thug had been riding with an axe, destroying the bodywork and engine to render the vehicle inoperable.

So far, SEDENA has not issued an official statement confirming the authenticity of the recording or the unit affiliation of the personnel involved; however, security forces are maintaining ongoing operations in the port of Mazatlán to counter the surveillance and patrol activities of cells linked to organized crime.
