The Sonora State Attorney General’s Office (FGJES) announced the arrest this Thursday of four individuals linked to an armed attack and the arson of the boxing ring for the “Noche Suprema” event in Hermosillo, Sonora. Among those arrested is a man identified as Azlan “N,” an influencer who promoted the giveaway and sale of drugs via his social media channels.
Prosecutor Gustavo Rómulo Salas Chávez reported, following a meeting of the State Security Board, that three of the detainees are under investigation for alleged involvement in homicides committed in the Sonoran capital. Salas Chávez specified that the fourth person arrested is the young man who identified as an influencer and was accused of promoting narcotics on social media; he was also the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant for rape.
The attack on the Multi-Use Center (CUM) took place on the night of August 28, when an armed squad entered the venue located at the intersection of Periférico Norte and Boulevard Solidaridad.
The assailants fired assault rifles and set fire to the ring that had been set up for the “Noche Suprema: El Norte Manda” event, which was scheduled for the following day.
The influencer’s sale of narcotics reportedly provoked the wrath of another criminal group, leading to the acts reported on the day of the fight.
