An explosive device destroyed vehicles, damaged the Ojocaliente Municipal Police headquarters, and injured six civilians on the night of Sunday, August 30—marking the third explosive attack on security forces recorded in southern Zacatecas in less than a week.

Initially, the state’s Secretary General of Government, Rodrigo Reyes Mugüerza, confirmed that “what appeared to be an explosive device was thrown from a vehicle passing by the location.” He later clarified that the official report from the Secretariat of Public Security indicated the explosive had actually been planted in a private car, rather than thrown from a moving vehicle.

The six injured civilians are receiving medical care at regional hospitals. Authorities have not disclosed the severity of their injuries.

The blast, which occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m., damaged the headquarters’ structure, nearby buildings, 11 private vehicles, and two patrol cars. A municipal police officer was also injured.
