An armed attack on Friday night at the *Centro de Usos Múltiples* (CUM)—a multi-purpose center—in Hermosillo, Sonora, led to the official cancellation of a boxing and influencer event titled “Noche Suprema: El Norte Manda” (Supreme Night: The North Rules), which was scheduled for Saturday, August 29.
Around 8:30 PM, a group of armed individuals stormed the sports complex located at the intersection of Solidaridad Boulevard and Perimetral Norte.
The assailants fired multiple shots inside the main arena, forcing staff members to seek cover. Before fleeing the scene, the attackers set fire to the boxing ring structure that had already been set up for the event.
The State Attorney General’s Office (FGJE) and security forces responded to the scene and officially confirmed that there were no injuries or fatalities resulting from the attack.
In a statement, the State Security Board announced the total cancellation of the event, noting that the attack targeted the event’s production team. It further stated that, although the promoter held the necessary municipal Civil Protection permits, they failed to hire the private security required to ensure the safety of attendees.
The lineup for the cancelled event included the return of Miguel “Alacrán” Berchelt against Juan Manuel “La Sombra” Córdoba in the main event, WBC continental title bouts, a legends’ exhibition match between José Luis Castillo and Alfonso Gómez, as well as matchups between content creators and a musical performance by the group La Brissa.
