Health Secretary David Kershenobich reported that three patients in Mexico have been diagnosed with a *Cyclospora* infection—a parasite capable of causing severe diarrhea known as ‘explosive diarrhea’—following cases recorded in the United States.
Speaking at the ‘La Mañanera del Pueblo’ press conference, the federal official stated that the three cases are not unusual and do not constitute a *Cyclospora* outbreak in Mexico.
He noted that U.S. health authorities had initially suggested the outbreak might be linked to a lettuce company in Guanajuato.
However, Mexican and U.S. authorities—including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)—examined a sample that initially tested positive, though it was later determined to be a false positive.
