In mid-May, José René Bastidas Mercado (alias “El 00”)—an ally of Fausto Isidro Meza Flores (“El Chapo Isidro”)—and Jaime Andrés Fernández Zazueta (alias “El Jimmy”)—a member of “Los Chapitos” and a close associate of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán, the leader of that Sinaloa Cartel faction—held a meeting with high-ranking officials from the Baja California Sur government.

The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) announced via its official channels that it would release further details on the case once the procedures related to the arrest are concluded. As of now, the arrest record has not yet been uploaded to the National Detention Registry.
