The Criminal Investigation Service (SIP) of Portuguesa state, Venezuela, confirmed the capture of three individuals wanted internationally by Colombian authorities for their alleged involvement in the case of Yulixa Consuelo Toloza, the woman found dead after undergoing a cosmetic procedure in Bogotá. The Colombian Attorney General’s Office confirmed it will formally request their extradition to Colombia.
According to the investigative body, “by virtue of the 1911 Bolivarian Extradition Treaty,” a formal request will be submitted against two men and a woman who were located and apprehended in Maracay, Aragua state, and in Portuguesa, Venezuela, following the activation of an Interpol Blue Notice.
The Attorney General’s Office specified that “the two men and one woman will remain in custody while the legal and judicial procedures for their extradition to Colombia are completed.”
The individuals wanted internationally by Colombian authorities are accused of the crimes of enforced disappearance, kidnapping, failure to provide assistance, obstruction of justice, and destruction of evidence.
According to the information released by the Guanare Police Intelligence Service (SIP Guanare), the arrests were made “through investigative work” and are related to “the disappearance and subsequent discovery of the body of Colombian citizen Yulixa Consuelo Toloza,” which occurred on May 13 in Bogotá.
