This Saturday, May 2nd, David “El Monstruo” Benavidez will face Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where both Mexican boxers will put their WBO and WBA Cruiserweight world titles on the line.

This Saturday, the American pugilist with Mexican and Ecuadorian roots, David Benavidez, will step into the ring to headline the weekend’s most compelling boxing match against the Mexican fighter Gilberto Ramírez. “Zurdo” will be defending his Cruiserweight championships from the World Boxing Association (WBA) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO).

The fight will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. In fact, both boxers have already completed the traditional pre-fight weigh-in and successfully made weight. “El Monstruo” Benavidez registered an official weight of 89.2 kilograms, while his opponent tipped the scales at 90.7 kilograms.

Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Benavidez enters this fight with an undefeated record of 31 victories—25 of which came by way of knockout—with zero draws and zero losses. Furthermore, Benavidez has held world titles in two different weight divisions.
For his part, the native of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, boasts a record of 48 wins—30 by knockout—along with one loss and zero draws. That sole defeat occurred in November 2022 against Dmitrii Bivol; since then, he has strung together four consecutive victories.

Ramírez enters the bout as the favorite to emerge victorious, largely due to his greater experience in the cruiserweight division—this will be his fifth fight at this weight. Benavidez, conversely, will be making his debut in this division; however, his youth could work to “El Monstruo’s” advantage, as he is five years younger than “Zurdo.”
