Brothers Joaquín and Ovidio Guzmán López—sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán—have emerged as key figures in the U.S. justice system, having reportedly provided testimony and intelligence in the formal indictment against Sinaloa Governor Rubén Rocha Moya.

According to U.S. federal sources consulted by Entorno.MX, the information provided by “Los Chapitos”—who remain in custody awaiting sentencing—forms part of the body of evidence validated by a Grand Jury in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The U.S. Department of Justice recently highlighted that the investigation into Rocha Moya has benefited from the strategic support of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois.

This office is, specifically, the entity responsible for managing the legal proceedings and cooperation agreements involving “Los Chapitos.”

The evidence supporting the charges of alleged collaboration with the Sinaloa Cartel includes:

Direct Testimony: Statements provided by Joaquín and Ovidio Guzmán López.

Technical Intelligence: Intercepted communications and intelligence data.

Financial Documentation: Records of drug trafficking activities and payments made to public officials.

Additional Witnesses: Contributions from convicted criminals who have already been sentenced.
