On March 25, the arrest of Bertha Olga Gómez Fong—wife of the former governor of Chihuahua, César Duarte—was reported to have taken place on U.S. soil.
Preliminary information indicates that the woman’s apprehension was carried out by agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The news outlet *El Heraldo de Chihuahua* highlighted that family members and associates of the woman stated that Bertha Olga Gómez was reportedly detained due to an immigration-related issue.
According to the source consulted by the aforementioned media outlet, the woman was not carrying her identification documents at the time she was approached by the agents; however, an attorney is reportedly already assisting Gómez Fong in the process of clarifying her status.
